Job Description



The Olsson Telecom team provides clients with services ranging from long haul outside plant design, building entrance design, Fiber-To-The-x (FTTx) design, GIS Asset Management / Fiber Mapping services, and project permit coordination. As a Project Manager for the Telecom team, you are responsible for leading and managing all aspects of telecommunications projects from initiation to completion. This role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure successful delivery of projects on time, within budget, and according to specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple telecom projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders and senior management.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets, and effectively manage resources to ensure project success.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, sales, and customer service, to ensure seamless project execution and delivery.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks and issues, and develop contingency plans as needed to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide regular updates to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project management processes and methodologies.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting open communication, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on telecom industry trends, technologies, and best practices, and provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

We have one current opening and will consider candidates being based out of our Des Moines, IA, Fort Worth and Plano, TX offices.

You bring to the team:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in telecommunications, engineering, business administration, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10-15 years of experience in project management, with a focus on telecommunications or related industries.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex telecom projects from initiation to completion.
  • In-depth knowledge of telecommunications technologies, including network infrastructure, i.e. FTTx, Long-Haul, B2B; wireless communications, and data services.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering innovative solutions to overcome challenges.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials preferred.
  • Experience with project management tools and software, such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Jira, or Asana.
