Teaching, Learning, and Technology Specialist I, TL003, Full-time 100%, Academic Staff, Ongoing/Renewable, Annual (12 month), one vacancy

This position is eligible for hybrid work consideration. Current eligibility requires residency in one of the following states: Wisconsin or Minnesota upon hire.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Markwood Center for Learning, Innovation and Collaboration (CLIC) located in the Jim Dan Hill Library (JDHL) is a busy, multi-faceted, 13-person unit that provides resources and support for students, staff, and the community. The unit prioritizes community-building, professional development, and collaboration.


This position assists with or supports the design, development, and enhancement of instructional activities, programs, and curricula. It will utilize effective educational methodologies and technologies to meet organizational and learner needs.


This position will serve as a back-up administrator to the Learning Management System (currently Canvas), as well as the course evaluation tool (currently Explorance Blue). This position will serve on a committee supporting the deployment and maintenance of the current Student Success platform, Navigate.


This position will support the larger goals of the CLIC and JDHL using educational technology. Projects will focus on online course design, accessibility, open educational resources, and contribute to ongoing efforts to research, manage, and evolve the educational technologies at UW-Superior.


UW-STANDARD JOB DESCRIPTION DUTIES:

  • Assists with the design and development of engaging, effective learning experiences which may be face-to-face, blended, and/or online.
  • Completes initial edits, reviews, and updates of existing instructional materials.
  • Contributes to researching, designing, and/or acquiring learning resources, technologies, materials, and/or processes to support learning.
  • Assists with providing basic training and technical support to learners in settings such as classrooms, labs, clinics, and distance learning mediums.
  • Provides consultation, training, and/or support for learning technology tools and platforms.
  • Analyzes, tests, troubleshoots, resolves issues, and provides feedback regarding learning technologies.
  • Provides support for collecting, organizing, interpreting, and disseminating data to identify instructional program needs and enhance effectiveness.
  • Assists with the design and development of multimedia learning materials.
  • Provides support for faculty development and engagement programs and activities.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES SPECIFIC TO POSITION:

Systems Administration

  • Configures complex systems and completes recurring administrative tasks to manage user access, roles and permissions, and notifications delivery.
  • Provides administrative and technical support to the LMS Administrator in multiple campus educational technology systems (e.g., Canvas, Kaltura, Explorance Blue)
  • Interfaces appropriately with Tech Services and other campus offices as needed.

Learning Technology Support

  • Serves on Digital Learning Environment (DLE) committees on campus and Universities of Wisconsin level.
  • Maintains an agenda of professional development and growth in discipline area through conference attendance, presentations, webinars, certifications, etc.


Other Duties:

  • Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends and tools in higher education technologies
  • Strong analytical skills in identifying technical problems.
  • Familiarity with user roles, problems, implementation, maintenance of courses, and troubleshooting user problems in learning management systems.
  • Excellent judgment, including sensitivity to personal and confidential information.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to make collegial relationship and help others.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple ongoing projects.
  • Exceptional organization, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • 2+ years experience in technology support and/or systems administration
  • High School Diploma


This position is currently ineligible for H1-B sponsorship. A qualification for this position includes independent eligibility to work within the United States upon hire date.


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Educational Technology, or comparable area.
  • Canvas Certified Technical Admin or similar certification
  • Experience supporting course management systems, especially Canvas
  • Experience drafting, publishing, and maintaining technical documentation
  • Experience working in higher education and supporting students, staff, and faculty
  • Experience working with educational technology


SALARY & BENEFITS:

Salary range for this position is: $48,000 - $51,000 annually. Specific benefit information can be found here. A snapshot of benefits offered for this position include:

*Hours are pro-rated based on appointment percentage for less than 100%-time employees.
