Job Description
General Purpose: Responsible for assisting the Store Manager in selling specific, related, or general lines of merchandise by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential Functions:
- Be fully aware and positively promote the Mission, Vision and Values of Easter Seals Goodwill ND, Inc. (ESGWND).
- Must be able to work 36-40 hours per week in rotating shifts, evenings and weekends (rotating depending on needs).
- Assist the Store Manager with store operations including supervision of Team Members engaged in sales work, taking of inventories, reconciling cash with sales receipts, maintaining operating records, and preparing daily record of transactions.
- Acts as store manager when the Manager is absent.
- Handles customer/donor complaints appropriately.
- In addition to supervisory function, performs store clerk, processing and cashier duties as needed.
- Ensures that quality customer service is provided to all customers, donors and Team Members.
- Follows all customer service guidelines; strives to provide exceptional customer service at all times.
- Greet customers/donors, assists them in all ways possible and ensures they feel appreciated.
- Answers customer’s questions concerning location, price and use of merchandise.
- Coordinates production needs to maintain adequate supplies to meet store needs.
- Coordinates processing activities of Team Members.
- Provides training and assistance as needed.
- Strives to meet all assigned goals.
- Assigns Team Members to perform specific duties. Provides clear directions and adequate supervision.
- Locks and secures store as assigned.
- Ensures Team Members comply with established security, sales, and recordkeeping procedures and practices.
- Follows and enforces policies procedures, and work rules.
- Maintains safe working conditions and properly trains Team Members to perform tasks in a safe manner using an established safety program. Follows and promotes all safety standards.
- Directly supervises 2-20 Team Members in the store. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training Team Members, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications/Basic Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent education and experience.
- The ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays and weekends, as well as filling in on an emergency basis.
- Ability to accept frequent interruptions due to public contact
- The ability to work in an environment consisting of odors, dust and extreme fluctuation in temperatures.
- Provide an environment free of sexual/discriminatory harassment.
- Must be able to accommodate two (2) hour periods of standing, twisting, bending, reaching, and sitting. Must be able to lift 35lbs without help.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, are helpful, but not required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- CPR certified; training provided
- Valid State driver’s license and proof of insurance required to drive personal car on company business.
