Job Description

The Alexandria School District Transportation Department plays a vital role in the daily operations of the school district by managing the logistics of student transportation. We are responsible for the safe transport of students to and from school, extracurricular activities, field trips, and other district-sponsored events. Our team is committed to maintaining high standards of safety, punctuality, and professionalism. The ideal school bus paraprofessional will be reliable, flexible, compassionate, patient and have a desire to help their local community. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitors and manages student behavior on the bus, enforcing district discipline guidelines and addressing minor issues while reporting serious concerns 
• Assists students with needs during the route, fostering a positive atmosphere, and maintains open communication with the Transportation Safety and Behavior Facilitator, providing daily updates on student progress and behavior management
• Actively participates in required meetings and in-services to stay current on best practices in student management and safety protocols

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age
• Pass background check

Pay:

• $19.09 per hour

Hours: 

• PT AM shift, PT PM shift or a split shift (20 hours/week) - Monday thru Friday
• AM: 6:00 - 8:30  
• PM: 2:00 - 4:30
