Regional MDS Consultant RN - Johnson City TN Region

The Regional MDS Consultant RN is responsible for overseeing the MDS process across multiple healthcare facilities within a designated region. This position ensures that MDS assessments and care planning are completed according to regulatory standards and best practices. The MDS Consultant Nurse RN provides guidance, training, and support to facility-based MDS nurses and staff, helping them maintain accurate and timely documentation, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and improve patient care outcomes. The role involves evaluating MDS data, auditing assessment quality, and working closely with facility leadership to implement.
The right candidate must have a deep knowledge base learned through years of education and clinical work. This position requires collaborating with clients, to assist the client-nursing facilities in providing the very best in-patient care and efficient operations. Qualifications - Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality
- Ability to communicate professionally, both in writing and in-person
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout the region.
- Must be able to make independent decisions and to take directive action when the circumstances warrant.
- Associate’s degree in nursing or higher is required.
- Restorative Certification preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in multi facility oversight as a Regional MDS Consultant in the long-term care industry
- Experience using Point Click Care Electronic Record System is preferred but is not required.
- Possess a current license to practice in the State of TN as a Registered Nurse
- The candidate must be proficient in the RAI MDS 3.0 process, Patient Driven Payment Model Reimbursement System, Restorative Nursing, ICD-10, Quality Indicators/Measures, the Five-Star Rating System, TN Department of Health Regulations and experience with MDS Case Mix Audits and Time Weighted Reports (Myers and Stauffer)
- Strong Analytical Skills and System Development are key to our success with proven ability to maximize reimbursement as well as the overall quality of care of the residents.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and current auto insurance liability policy.
