Maintenance Planner - Piping & Fixed Equipment Job Summary The Marathon Kenai Alaska Refinery has an opening for a Maintenance Planner - Piping & Fixed Equipment. The Maintenance Planner is primarily responsible for processing all routine work requests into work orders and developing job plans for maintenance activities. Our Planner plans and scopes routine, PM, pre-turnaround, shutdown, and extraordinary maintenance work performed by their specific craft and potentially support crafts as needed. This position also ensures equipment data in SAP is accurate and current, including the equipment BOM. The Planner is also responsible for maintaining a “fore-log” of ready to be executed work to keep their craft fully utilized and productive in the plant. The schedule for the position is a 4-10 - Monday- Thursday - core hours 6AM- 7 AM (start time) - 4:30 PM- 5:30 PM (end time), after hours calls are rare and support of TAR once every three years.
Key Responsibilities - Act as a safety leader by participating in the current safety programs. Attend daily toolbox safety meetings and ensures MPC maintenance technicians and contract personnel are actively participating in the safety programs.
- Follow the WO process dictated by the Marathon Routine Maintenance Standard.
- Identify maintenance scope and requirements, work with Engineering to clarify standards and specifications as needed.
- Estimate labor, material, and equipment for all maintenance activities to include man-hours, duration, material quantities, and costs for work requests.
- Identify any safety and/or environmental needs to support the successful execution of field work.
- Confirm ordered material availability prior to work execution.
- Coordinate all craft requirements that involve other shops, departments, and/or resources.
- Manage SAP planner group and ensures timely processing of work requests.
- Analyze equipment history files and upgrades preventive and normal maintenance procedures, including task lists and bill of materials (BOMs).
- Receive input from shop foreman and technicians as continuous improvement on future job plans.
Minimum Qualifications Education, Experience and Skills - Must have a high school diploma or GED. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
- Must have at least 5 years of maintenance or operations experience in a refinery, petro-chemical or other related heavy industry.
- Must be able to read & interpret P&ID’s, construction drawings, and piping isometrics.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook. Must have working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system.
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery and be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical. Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, harness required scaffolds, and enter confined spaces.
- Must have a valid driver’s license. (MPC determines valid status.)
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
- Travel Requirement is 5-10%
- The schedule for the position is a 4-10 - Monday- Thursday - core hours 6AM- 7 AM (start time) - 4:30 PM- 5:30 PM (end time), after hours calls are rare and support of TAR once every three years. Must be able to work outages, nights, and extended hours to support emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications - A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Process Technology is preferred.
- 10 years in Refining maintenance or operations with time as a maintenance or turnaround planner is preferred.
- Strong SAP skills: Notifications, Work Orders, Scheduler, Material Masters, BOMs, FLOC Creation is preferred.
- Understanding of repair and maintenance of piping and fixed equipment within a refinery is preferred.
- Understanding of welding procedures, NDE, and weld package requirements is preferred.
Relocation is not available. This job will posted through September 6, 2024. This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.
