This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by supervising the Mail Processing Team (MPT) which is responsible for obtaining, opening, sorting, and distributing all incoming mail for the Center for Health Statistics and Informatics (CHSI). The MPT is also responsible for the pickup and delivery of all outgoing mail.
The Supervising Program Technician I (SPT I) supervises the processing of applications for copies of vital records, or for an amendment to a vital record. The MPT processes and distributes completed certificates for mailing; reviews and sorts returned mail for address accuracy; and processes requests from customers for various vital records forms/pamphlets. The incumbent plans, organizes, and directs the work of a small team of Program Technician Is and personally performs the most complex work.
The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Supervising Program Technician III, Chief of the Production Group.
