Job Description

INTRODUCTION: The Home Health program provides services for those needing skilled services under orders from a private physician delivered in the patient's private home. Payment is through Medicaid, Medicare, and Private Pay/Insurance. Visiting Nurse Association of Southeast Missouri is a not for private organization.

TYPE OF WORK INVOLVED: Assess symptoms of diseases and responses to treatment, teach patients and caregivers how to give their care, and answer questions about meds, diet, disease process, activity, etc. Administer IV and injectable meds, perform prescribed treatments, provide wound management, and ostomy care, restore independence, and communicate changes in the patient's health to the physician.

TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: VNA nurses are paid by the visit, receive mileage or a company car, are expected to take monthly & weekly on-call and Be available from 8 to 4:30 daily. Employees may be required to drive 45 miles or more.

TRAINING: Training involves a 30-day period where policies and procedures are covered. Computer training will cover the use of the handheld used to make patient visits.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 18 years of age

Able to read, write, perform simple mathematics, and follow directions

Have at least one year of home health or nursing experience and a Missouri nursing license.

Must have reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance.

Must pass pre-employment drug screening, criminal background check, registered w/Family Care Reg.

Must not be listed on Employee Disqualification List (EDL)

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50.
