Director of Waste Solutions

A Director of Waste Solutions should possess competencies in waste management regulations and practices, strategic planning, budget management, stakeholder engagement, environmental compliance, project management, leadership, communication, analytical skills, and a strong understanding of the waste hierarchy, including waste reduction, reuse, and recycling strategies to effectively oversee and implement waste management programs within an organization.

This position will have a profound impact on our organization by driving strategic initiatives that optimize waste management practices and enhance operational efficiency. Your leadership in vendor outlet strategies and proposal management will directly contribute to cost savings and regulatory compliance, positioning our company as a leader in sustainable waste management practices within our industry.

As the Director of Total Waste Solutions, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of waste management within our organization. This role entails strategic management of vendor selection & price negotiation, defining the outlet strategies, transportation coordination, leadership of a proposals team, and management of waste approvers. You will play a crucial role in optimizing waste disposal processes, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and driving profitable revenue growth across the company.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Develop and implement vendor outlet strategies to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness in waste management.
  • Lead and manage a team responsible for preparing proposals and bids related to waste management contracts and projects.
  • Coordinate with waste approvers to ensure all waste management activities adhere to regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Monitor and analyze waste management performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainable practices into waste management processes and initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in waste management to ensure compliance and innovation.
  • Proven experience in waste management, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as needed.
  • Physical ability to inspect waste management facilities and operations.
