Summary

The Director of Sales, Marketing, and Events has direct oversight of the Sales, Marketing, and Events operations of the hotel. This highly visible role involves leadership and strategy development to achieve the hotel’s revenue goals and increase market share performance. Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Sales, Marketing, and Events is a member of the hotel's Leadership Committee and interacts regularly with Senior and Corporate leadership.

The Role

The Director of Sales, Marketing, and Events oversees the Sales, Marketing, and Events budget/P&L, conducts revenue forecasting, and develops business plans. Individuals in this role lead advertising and marketing initiatives, attend ownership meetings, and prepare relevant documentation. The role involves developing and implementing both short-term and long-term sales, catering, and marketing strategies. Additionally, the Director of Sales, Marketing, and Events supervises sales managers, trainees, interns, and administrative staff. The Director of Sales, Marketing, and Events will monitor and train staff on the group and transient contractual agreement process, manage quoting rates, sending referrals, setting traces, and retention, reactivation, and acquisition accounts. Proficiency in utilizing and managing various sales and revenue systems/programs is essential.

Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin features 246 guestrooms, 5,500 sq ft. of dedicated and flexible meeting space, along with two exciting F&B concepts including an 8th floor rooftop bar. Guestrooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows offering unmatched views of the Texas Capitol, UT Stadium, and growing Austin skyline. The 31st floor is the home of the Artist’s Residence, a 1,400sq ft suite and event space with an outdoor terrace. The hotel’s boho-chic residential design reflects Austin’s rich history in music and arts, with the common areas showcasing diverse local artists and guestrooms featuring iconic images from the historic neighboring Paramount Theatre.

Qualifications

  • 5 years or more of progressive hotel Sales experience
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Professional presentations skills
  • Must be a caring leader that builds trust and engagement by cultivating genuine relationships
  • Innovative thinker that will challenge business processes and concepts in order to drive results
  • Must be creative and strategic in developing marketing/advertising campaigns and be managing various social media platforms
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must be proficient with computers as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and the internet
  • Comfortable with sales and revenue systems/programs
  • Flexible to work some nights and weekends when necessary based on business and staffing needs
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance colleague engagement and satisfaction, fostering a positive work environment
  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skillset
