The Opportunity


The Clinical Administrative Assistant (CAA) at Cornell Health supports clinical and professional staff in the Counseling and Psychological Services and Medical departments. Under the guidance of an Assistant Director for Clinical Administrative Support, the CAA is the first and last point of contact for patients and clients, ensuring a positive experience. The role also involves acting as a liaison for campus and community partners.


Key Responsibliites:

  • Support clinical and professional staff in the Counseling and Psychological Services and Medical departments of Cornell Health.
  • Serve as the first and last point of contact for patients and clients, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Act as a liaison between clinical staff, students, and other campus and community partners.
  • Utilize the Electronic Health Record System (EHR) for efficient client/patient scheduling, check-in and check-out processes, and administration of surveys and questionnaires.
  • Provide general administrative support to ensure smooth operations within the departments.
  • Communicate effectively with various internal and external parties.
  • Maintain superb organization skills, following protocols, multi-tasking, and prioritizing responsibilities.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, fostering a warm and welcoming environment for a diverse population.
  • Work independently with limited supervision and guidance.

What We Need

  • A resume and cover letter are required for further consideration.
  • Formal training beyond high school (1-2 years) with at least two years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience providing support in a high-demand, high-volume office setting with in-person customer interactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and/or other computer software programs.
  • Previous experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and/or experience in supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Experience working directly with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • At least one year of relevant work experience in a mental health and/or primary health care setting.
  • Experience handling confidential information in compliance with FERPA and/or HIPAA regulations.
  • Previous work experience with college-age populations.
  • Knowledge of the Cornell community.

This is a full-time, endowed position based in Ithaca, NY, with a schedule of 39 hours per week. The role is fully on-site, with work hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
