Job Description

The Social Media Specialist will support the recruiting and promotional efforts of Iowa Western Community College's Aviation Maintenance Technology program through the creation of social and digital media content across platforms.  T he position is limited to 400 hours per semester. Preferred start day is August 12th and the grant ends in March 2025,

• Demonstrate IWCC's core mission, vision and values.
• Create social and digital media content including videos, images and written messaging.
• Manage and oversee any Iowa Western Aviation Maintenance Technology social media accounts.
• Assist in the development and implementation of social and media strategy for the Aviation  Maintenance Technology program. 
• Collaborate with Enrollment Services and Marketing departments on both strategy and content creation. 
• Encourage greater participation and growth of Iowa Western's AMT social media presence.   
• Monitor trending hashtags and topics to identify opportunities to integrate with college events and activities. 
• Track social and digital marketing efforts.
• Improve results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, and coordination.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma, plus 1-year of applicable experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Expert design abilities- photography, video and graphics.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and produce error-free work.
• Aptitude on various social media platforms such as Instagram, X, Facebook.
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
• Ability to function collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, customer-oriented team.
• Professional in communications, appearance, relationships, and responsiveness.
• Positive attitude and adaptability.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
• Self-starter with the ability to perform with little or no direct supervision.
• Regular, prompt & reliable attendance.
• Ability to pass a background check
