Associate or Full Specialist
The Laboratories of Drs. Suneil Koliwad and Diana Alba in the UCSF Diabetes Center are seeking to hire a Research Specialist. This Specialist's effort will be distributed evenly between the two labs, focusing on collaborative projects and with an overlapping job description along with jointly developed expectations and mentorship.
Our collaborative research focuses on understanding how maladaptive responses among cell types in adipose tissues and the liver can lead to inflammation and fibrosis, particularly in the context of obesity. These responses and the mechanisms underlying them are crucial to explaining the link between obesity, insulin resistance, and diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and fatty liver disease. Our studies employ several approaches, including mouse models of human disease, human and mouse primary cell cultures, human and mouse genomic techniques, and a variety of whole-body, tissue-level, and cellular assays use to probe metabolism, inflammation, and fibrosis.
